Battle of the Badges was created with a simple idea:
Bring first responders together in a positive, visible way—and support the people who support our communities.

What started as a fundraiser for Galway EMS has quickly grown into something bigger: a regional event designed to foster connection, camaraderie, and community appreciation for first responders across the Capital Region.

Our Mission

The mission of Battle of the Badges is to:

  • Support first responder organizations through meaningful fundraising

  • Strengthen relationships between agencies and the communities they serve

  • Create an annual, sustainable event that gives back locally every year

Each year, Battle of the Badges will identify a first responder organization as its primary beneficiary, ensuring the impact remains close to home.

Why Galway EMS

In 2026, proceeds from Battle of the Badges will directly support Galway EMS.

Funds raised will go toward:

  • A new driveway to improve access and response efficiency

  • A backup generator to ensure uninterrupted operations during emergencies

These upgrades are not luxuries—they are critical to keeping responders safe and services running when they are needed most.

All funds raised for the 2026 event will be directed specifically to Galway EMS.

What the Event Looks Like

Battle of the Badges is designed to be:

  • Competitive—but fun

  • Physical—but accessible

  • Serious in purpose—but lighthearted in spirit

Teams will compete in a variety of challenges focused on teamwork, endurance, problem-solving, and good-natured rivalry. No specialized skills required—just participation and team spirit.

Alongside the competition, the event includes:

  • Food trucks and vendors

  • Music and entertainment

  • Family-friendly activities

  • Emergency vehicles and demonstrations

  • Volunteers and partner organizations

Our goal is for Battle of the Badges to become an annual Capital Region tradition, with each year supporting a different first responder organization in need.
